Greetings!
I am a Scientist in Immunology Research at Children's Hospital of Orange County, CA. My research is studying the developmental control of inflammation and coagulation during infection in newborn infants. I also volunteer with the Ask-A-Scientist educational services of MadSciNetwork, at Washington Univ.-St. Louis, and NEWTON BBS, at Argonne Nat'l. Lab.
Previously, I worked on identifying genetic factors that regulate the response of plants to light as a postdoctoral fellow at UCLA.
I received my Ph.D in Biochemistry from Penn State University for research developing a gene transfer system in cyanobacteria (blue-green algae). My first postdoctoral project dealt with using this system to find cyanobacterial genes that confer herbicide-resistance in plants.
I have also established Molecular Biotech Consultants, offering a variety of independent consulting and networking services for bio-business development (see Home Page hyperlink above).
